Noel’s gift in will is a tribute to his family
The Leukaemia Foundation is honoured to name ‘The Hurd Family Unit’ in honour of Noel George Hurd and his beloved wife and son, Janice and Mark.
Noel and Janice Hurd connected with the Leukaemia Foundation in 2016, when their son Mark was diagnosed with Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Noel and Janice experienced first-hand how a blood cancer diagnosis can completely alter the trajectory of one’s life. In 2017, Noel and Janice travelled to Western Australia with Mark for a clinical trial. For three months they called a Leukaemia Foundation Blood Cancer Centre home.
Sadly, a bout of shingles prevented Mark from participating in the clinical trial, and he passed away upon returning home to South Australia. The following year, Noel experienced another devastating loss with the passing of Janice.
Noel remained a special friend to the Leukaemia Foundation for the rest of his life, regularly visiting the Bridgestone Leukaemia Foundation Blood Cancer Centre in Adelaide, donating books and making generous gifts to support the Leukaemia Foundation’s work.
When it came to writing his Will, Noel chose to leave a lasting legacy to the Leukaemia Foundation. With the naming of The Hurd Family Unit, the Leukaemia Foundation is delighted to recognise Noel’s kind-hearted bequest.
