Bloomhill Cancer Care

Bloomhill Cancer Care is part of the Leukaemia Foundation

Bloomhill Cancer Care has been providing cancer support services to the Sunshine Coast community for more than 25 years. Bloomhill is unique in providing an evidence-based, nurse-led model of care from a Wellness Centre in Buderim, Queensland.

The Wellness Centre sits on lush grounds and houses a care team and allied health practitioners, that includes lymphoedema and exercise physiology services, psychologists, counsellors, dietitians, acupuncturists, physiotherapists and touch therapists. Bloomhill also offers wellness activities such as meditation, yoga, art therapies, transport services, support groups and education workshops.

Bloomhill helps more than a thousand people each year, including many patients with blood cancer. It supports people of all ages and all personal situations, whether they are newly diagnosed, in treatment, post treatment, into survivorship, dealing with recurrence or during palliation.

Bloomhill also supports carers and family members impacted by cancer, as well as those bereaved.

Guided by an initial nursing assessment, the care team recommend supportive services to compliment a patient’s personal situation and treatment pathway. Bloomhill also provide free nursing support, subsidised transport and therapy services to ensure support is there when it’s needed most.

Through the Bloomhill brand, the Leukaemia Foundation is helping address a growing need for cancer care in regional Queensland. Our Bloomhill Wellness Centre is located around 6km from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital’s (SCUH) oncology unit, where admissions for chemotherapy and haematology are predicted to more than double over a decade, approaching 59,000 by 2032.

While the Leukaemia Foundation’s mission remains primarily focused on blood cancer, and Bloomhill helps those with any type of cancer, together both brands are ensuring those in regional communities have equal access to cancer care.

Once separate charities, the two organisations officially amalgamated into a single entity in 2024. By combining resources, expertise and networks, we’re addressing the rapidly evolving needs of the community and providing more comprehensive services, regardless of someone’s cancer type or postcode.
