As the former premier of Queensland and now a national Leukaemia Foundation Ambassador, Anna has navigated through challenges with grace and determination. Leading the Australian Banking Association during a period of crucial reform since 2017, she spearheaded efforts to rebuild trust and foster a culture of integrity within the banking sector. Her pivotal role in implementing the recommendations of the Royal Commission has reshaped the industry, ensuring accountability and fairness.

Amidst the tumult of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anna’s leadership shone brightly as she rallied Australia’s banks to provide vital support to millions of customers. Her unwavering dedication to helping others, even in the face of adversity, underscores her remarkable character.

During her tenure as Premier of Queensland from 2007 to 2012, Anna left an indelible mark on the state through her visionary economic reforms. Her investments in infrastructure, science, innovation, and the arts propelled Queensland forward, even in the wake of natural disasters like cyclones and floods in 2011, which she managed with resilience and compassion.

Yet, amidst her public triumphs, Anna faced her own personal battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013. Enduring grueling chemotherapy, she emerged victorious, now a decade in remission. Her courage in confronting her health challenges serves as an inspiration to us all.

As an ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation, Anna channels her experiences to advocate for health awareness and early intervention. Through her own journey, she encourages others to prioritise their well-being and seek medical attention for any concerns. Her dedication to the Leukaemia Foundation’s mission to eliminate blood cancer by 2035 reflects her unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Recognised for her outstanding contributions, Anna was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia in 2017. Her advocacy for education, the empowerment of women in public life, and her tireless work in the not-for-profit sector exemplify her deep-rooted commitment to serving others.
