Giving in life and in legacy

In honour of her late two children, Florence Brown chose to leave an incredibly generous gift in Will.

Florence Brown
Florence’s impact lives on through her heartfelt generosity.

It’s this care for others that’s testament to Florence’s desire to make a difference, something she demonstrated during her life.
Her community spirit saw her enrolling in the Australian Woman Army Service during World War II at just 21 years old. She trained as a plotter and search light operator.

Later in life, Florence raised two children. Sadly, both of her children passed away from cancer as adults, with her son losing his life to blood cancer.

With a desire to support the blood cancer community, Florence made the ultimate commitment of a gift in will to several Australian charities including a 25% residual gift to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Florence’s wish was for her gift to support blood cancer research, giving the Leukaemia Foundation the wonderful opportunity to support nine research projects. Focusing on high priority areas like precision medicine, drug resistance, childhood leukaemia and stem cell transplants, the wide range of projects have infinite potential to save lives.

We’re so thankful for Florence’s life-changing gift. It’s generosity like this that gives hope for a future where no mother has to lose a child to blood cancer again.
