Bridgestone network reaffirms Leukaemia Foundation support through new funding initiative

Australia’s most trusted tyre brand, Bridgestone, and its nation-wide network of Bridgestone retail stores, has announced a three-year extension with long-term charity partner, the Leukaemia Foundation. The declaration coincides with the launch of a new way for motorists to show their support for the organisation.
Under the new partnership structure, participating Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centre locations will donate $2 for every Turanza Serenity Plus tyre sold. The funds raised through the tyres’ sales will go directly to the provision of transport services for people living with blood cancer, as well as research towards finding a cure and providing accommodation for those going through treatment.
Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centre franchisees’ Leukaemia Foundation contribution will also continue to be bolstered by Bridgestone’s corporate support of the organisation.
The Leukaemia Foundation is the only national charity dedicated to helping those with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders survive and then live a better quality of life.
According to a Leukaemia Foundation spokesperson, Bridgestone’s ongoing commitment to the organisation will ensure the Leukaemia Foundation can continue to support those living with blood cancer.
“We are immensely grateful to Bridgestone for their longstanding support of Australian families living with blood cancer, through the Leukaemia Foundation,” said the spokesperson.
“As we acknowledge and support Blood Cancer Awareness Month throughout September, we know that blood cancer diagnoses are on the rise, with more than 100,000 people living with a blood cancer in Australia today, and nearly 5,000 Australians expected to lose their life to blood cancer this year.
“Now more than ever, the Australian community’s awareness and support for people living with blood cancer is just so important. With the funds from this Bridgestone initiative, we can ensure we’re there for families as their loved ones make their way through blood cancer treatment, and we can continue our quest to fund life-saving blood cancer research.”
Bridgestone’s partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation is one of the mainstays of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, spanning more than 33 years.
Over that time, Bridgestone and its franchise network have funded or contributed to many of the Leukaemia Foundation’s core initiatives, including accommodation services near major cancer treatment hospitals, transport services to and from appointments, vital research and supported the Light the Night, Aussie Muscle Car Run and World’s Greatest Shave events through volunteering, participation and fundraising.
“We’re delighted to extend our partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation and continue our support for the vital services the organisation provides to people living with blood cancer, as well as their families,” said Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand Managing Director, Stephen Roche.
“We wanted to be able to support the Leukaemia Foundation in new ways into the future, and through the sale of our popular Turanza Serenity Plus tyre, Australian motorists can also show their support for the charity all year round simply through their tyre choice.”
Bridgestone’s global commitment to corporate social responsibility, known as ‘Our Way to Serve’, is built around three priority areas: supporting people, enhancing mobility and environmental stewardship.
“Our commitment to the Leukaemia Foundation is very much about supporting the community, and for people living with blood cancer, assisting their mobility through the provision of transport services to treatment,” Mr Roche added.
“Leukaemia and blood cancers can affect anyone, regardless of age, sex or background. Together with our stores, we can make a significant difference to the quality of life of those affected by blood cancers, and we hope Australian motorists will join us in supporting this cause simply by putting themselves in safe hands with Bridgestone.”
