Dr Bryone Kuss

Dr Kuss has been a member of the Leukaemia Foundation’s National Medical Advisory Committee since 2008.
She is a senior consultant haematologist with SA Pathology at Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University. Her dual qualifications from the Royal Australian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia were obtained in 1993. She has a PhD in molecular genetics from Adelaide University, 1997, and has been a recipient of fellowships from the NHMRC, Royal Society of London and RACP for the study of molecular mechanisms in leukaemia.
Currently she is the clinical head of Molecular Genetics at Flinders and academic head of Haematology and Molecular Genetics for Flinders University. Her current research interests are in the mechanisms of drug resistance and prognostic factors in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL). She is a founding member of the CLL Australian Research Consortium and provides the central diagnostic facility for this group in CLL clinical trials. Her aims are to provide a state of the art diagnostic facility for CLL sufferers and to obtain competitive funding for ongoing CLL research at Flinders.
