New accommodation for Western Australians living with blood cancer
Publish Date: 31/1/2018
The new Stirling Cross Apartments at Innaloo will be a welcome home away from home for Western Australia’s rural and regional families during blood cancer treatment.
When blood cancer strikes, you have to act fast. Often treatment needs to start within 24 hours of diagnosis, and for people living in regional areas, this means immediately relocating to a capital city. But where do you stay? Can your family stay with you? What happens when you’re not at hospital?
This is where your help makes all the difference. Since our inception more than 40 years ago, accommodation for regional people living with blood cancer remains one of the most important services provided across Australia.
In Western Australia, 2018 marks a significant milestone for this essential service as our accommodation and blood cancer support and administration services move into one new location, Stirling Cross Apartments at Innaloo.
Stirling Cross Apartment complex offers secure and central location close to essential amenities and services and, importantly, less than 25 minutes from all major metropolitan treating hospitals. Our new accommodation is a mix of brand new, fully furnished one and two bedroom apartments.
We know that staying close to family during treatment is crucial for people with blood cancer. Each of the fully furnished apartments includes a sofa bed, allowing even the one bedroom apartments to accommodate three people, keeping the family unit together.
Blood cancer support staff will be located on site and available for patient and carer support during the week, along with a free transport service to take families to and from the treating hospital.
