Bridgestone Australia receives global award for 30 years of improving the lives of people with blood cancer

Partnerships with loyal supporters play a vital role in our community and Bridgestone Australia’s meaningful investment to support people with a blood cancer through the Leukaemia Foundation reached a 30 year milestone recently.

The collaboration has become one of Australia’s longest charitable partnership (if not the longest) and it has helped make vital accommodation and support services available free-of-charge to people with a life-threatening blood cancer diagnosis.

At the 2017 Bridgestone Group Awards official ceremony in Tokyo, Global CEO Tsuya-san and Global COO Nishigai-san recognised Bridgestone Australia’s long-standing investment in supporting people with blood cancer. Together, they presented Bridgestone Australia with the coveted “People” award for their 30 year partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation.

Thanks to Bridgestone Australia’s meaningful community support, the Leukaemia Foundation has been able to significantly improve the lives of thousands of Australians whose lives have been shattered by a blood cancer diagnosis.

From emotional support and practical services through to vital research programs to improve treatments and find cures, there is no doubt that Bridgestone Australia have positively contributed to every facet of the Leukaemia Foundation’s work, and in turn, the wider community.

The Bridgestone judging panel acknowledged the collaboration between Bridgestone Australia and the Leukaemia Foundation, which started in 1986, as a truly exemplary case of linking business with meaningful initiatives.

Bridgestone Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Andrew Moffatt said he was proud of the achievement and thankful to the people within Bridgestone who had worked hard to support the Leukaemia Foundation.

“The Leukaemia Foundation does great work helping people with blood cancers and their families and their ongoing work deserves our support,” he said.

We take this opportunity to congratulate Bridgestone Australia on their award and thank them for their valuable contributions. It is through their ongoing support and people across the wider community that the Leukaemia Foundation can continue to ease the burden of blood cancer for so many families across the country.
